The built-in online guides that cable TV uses, where you can see what programs will be on the channels and select them for DVR'ing… who controls what the short program descriptions are?
(I'm not talking about the "TV Guide Channel". I mean the guide that pops up when you press the GUIDE button on your remote.
We're tired of them lumping all motorcycle racing events as "Motorcycle Racing" because it means we end end DVR recording sport bike shows that we're not interested in. We want to get them to distinguish "Motocross Racing" and "Superbike Racing".
But who can make that happen? (I think my husband once asked the cable company, and they just said, "We don't control that."
So who does?
Does it come from a company that they contract with to get that guide content? Who are they?
Yes I know we can just check the "Info" for each show. But we like to set it up so that it records ALL SHOWS of a particular name on a channel (Speed) at any time. We got burned in the past where an awesome Supercross / Motocross race got bumped several times (on CBS) and ended up playing at 4:15 AM on a Thursday. It was one of the best races of the year, and we ended up getting treated to an infomercial on our DVR recording. Thanks CBS. (&$%#$@-holes)
Comes from the cable companies guide supplier. TV Guide is one of those but there are several companies. Ask your cable company who they use and see if you can write them to ask them to include more details. Some features such as this may be limited by the type of cable box that you have and its firmware (software stored in the memory or on the hard drive of the box).
